What customers say?

“ A wonderful takeaway with the usual menu. A happy atmosphere and the locals say good things about it ”

“ Nice fish and chips, good volume of chips. Been here a few times now. Today we had half a scoop of chips, 4 prawn twisters two crab sticks and two bits of fish. Was a good meal for the two of us for a little over $30. Pretty good value for a nice late lunch. ”

“ If my family are feeling like chips, and are close, we won't hesitate to buy a couple fresh scoops from this shop. Fish are usually well cooked and fresh tasting. Chips taste like they have been deep fried in beef fat sometimes. When you ask for them well done or extra crispy. We will find 80% of the time we get home or chips are still nice and crunchy and not soggy. Which means they spent that extra minute or two giving you what you asked for and that's top service. Good chips, but with the price of potatoes. I wish, for what you pay you could feel like your satisfied with what you brought. If you drive into Bethlehem or Tauranga you will find a instant increase in size. But for quality, it can't be beaten and is usually my choice. Keep up the fine food service Whaka' Takeaways. ”

“ A classic that always stays good. We arrived and ordered on site at around 7pm on a Tuesday in early February. Only had to wait around 10 minutes and there were three pre orders picked up whilst we were there :) Ordered for 2 people and one child and the total was around 30$, we had snapper and chips, both very generously served, also got the hash browns which were very epic also! Their menu is extensive though, can't wait to try some more :) ”

“ Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time… friendly staff and the place looks feels like what I remember about kiwi fish and chip shops ”

- Nathan Sowter -

“ Best fish and chips I’ve had in years. The chips were cooked perfectly and so was the fish. Large portion. Will definitely go back. ”

- Marilyn Newlands -

“ Wow, what a great fish and chip shop. Love this place. We’d had a hard morning climbing Mount Maunganui and needed a tasty lunch fast so we ordered ahead on our way home. We grabbed a range of things. Fish, chips, mussels, curry roll, scallops and potato fritters. We also bought some fresh green lipped mussels to steam later. The fish and chips were spectacularly good. The fish was off the scale excellent. Fresh trevally cooked superbly in batter. Not small pieces either, large thick ones replete with beautiful moisture and in a lovely batter. Best fish I’ve ever had from a local fish and chip shop. Just fantastic. Everything else was great too, particularly the potato fritters. Service was lovely here as well. The cost of the meal was just so cheap too. Just over $50 for five people. I so wish this place was my local. ”

“ This is the nicest burger I’ve had in a long time! Solid burger with fresh and tasty ingredients. Reasonable price and friendly service as well. Well done Chefs. ”
